Reading boosted their hopes of finishing in the play-offs as Jaap Stam's men come away from Hillsborough with all three points in a satisfying encounter against fellow top-six opposition Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.

The Royals began on the front foot when Yann Kermorgant bagged his tenth Championship goal of the season in the 13th minute.

Despite pressure throughout the match from the hosts, which forced Ali Al-Habsi to make a number of great saves, Reading continued to read the Owls well and knock on the door.

They finally got their reward when an empty goal allowed Adrian Popa to slot into an empty in additional time at the end of the game.

This 2-0 victory for the Madejski outfit means they sit one point ahead of Leeds United and four behind Huddersfield Town, who were thumped four goals to nil at Bristol City on Friday.

Here is how Reading fans reacted to the positive result on Twitter....
