Leeds United’s under-23 side progressed to the quarter-finals of the Premier League cup after knocking out Fulham on penalties.

Ryan Edmondson gave the Whites a half-time lead thanks to a 44th minute penalty but were pegged back in the second half, falling behind just after the hour mark after two quickfire goals.

But Carlos Corberan’s side were not about to give up, with an Izzy Brown goal sending the match into extra time and then penalties after a goalless 30 minutes.

After an excellent display from Whites goalkeeper Joshua Rae, it fell to Gaetano Berardi to convert the winning penalty, which he did with ease.

And the performance of Rae attracted plenty of praise after the match following a top display, taking to Twitter to share his thoughts as well.

This season has seen Marcelo Bielsa put real emphasis on the club’s youth teams, promoting many to the first team already.

So could Rae be the next? Here is how the fans reacted to his showing…
