Sunderland face an anxious wait over the fitness of Aiden McGeady, who has picked up an injury whilst on international duty with the Republic of Ireland, reports Club Call.
McGeady has been instrumental for Sunderland so far this season in the Sky Bet Championship, but is now faces a spell out of the first-team with a hamstring injury.
The Irishman will undergo a scan to discover the extent of the injury, leaving Sunderland with an anxious wait.
The Black Cats have picked up five-points from their opening five fixtures, with McGeady already scoring a goal and grabbing two assists during his early days as a Sunderland player.
Grayson’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats in the Championship, slipping down the table after a positive start to the season.
Leeds United visited the Stadium of Light and handed Sunderland a 2-0 defeat in mid August, before Barnsley were also victorious against Grayson’s side over the bank holiday weekend.

Sunderland have had a week away from Championship action, but return in the coming week with back-to-back home fixtures at the Stadium of Light, when Sheffield United and Nottingham Forest visit.

McGeady has been excellent so far this season for Sunderland, and should be missing for an extended period of time, it will be a huge blow for Grayson.
Sunderland’s last two performances in the Championship have been worrying, with even McGeady, along with his attacking partners James Vaughan and Lewis Grabban, struggling to find their best.
Grayson will be hoping McGeady’s injury is not too serious, with Sunderland in desperate need of a positive result in the coming week.
