Football League World head to the Stadium Of Light tonight as Sunderland host Doncaster Rovers.

The Black Cats have enjoyed an excellent run of seven games without a defeat which stretches back to the early December defeat against Gillingham.

Their latest result was a 1-0 victory over MK Dons last weekend  - a result which solidified their status as promotion contenders.

While a place near the top of the table is exactly what everyone expected at the start of the season, it's worth remembering how far the Wearsiders have come since Phil Parkinson took charge.

Following Jack Ross's dismissal Sunderland endured a poor run of form which saw them drop into the bottom half of the table.

Parkinson spent those weeks examining different options within his squad, but it seems that Sunderland have now settled on a best XI - something which they hope will serve them well during the rest of the campaign.

In the opposition camp it’s a similar tale.

Doncaster Rovers have blown hot and cold at times this term as Darren Moore looked to find his best side.

A lot of their play comes through in-demand Ben Whiteman and Kieran Sadlier who have very much led the way for Rovers, however their task at the Stadium Of Light will be a tough one.

After receiving a blow to the head against Coventry City last week, Sadlier will miss the trip to Wearside through concussion meaning that Doncaster will need to face one of their toughest trips of the season without their star man.

Can you name every Sunderland player's shirt number this season?

However with the joint-best defensive record in League One, Darren Moore will be hoping to frustrate Sunderland.

Doncaster are just four points outside of the play-off places, and they'll be determined to have another crack at promotion after falling short last season.

While there's still plenty of games to go, a victory over Sunderland would set them up nicely for a late push.
