With 10 days left of Lee Johnson’s first transfer window as Sunderland boss, the Black Cats have made just one signing.
Beyond the arrival of Carl Winchester from Forest Green Rovers, Johnson is yet to bring in any reinforcements though you feel that could well change before the end of the month.
With that in mind, here are the latest Sunderland transfer stories…
Charlton set to win race for Sunderland target
Preston North End striker Jayden Stockley has been linked with the Black Cats this month but it seems they’re set to miss out.
The Bristol Post has reported that the forward is set to join Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
The report claims that Stockley’s high wages were an issue for many of the League One clubs interested.
Johnson eyeing two more signings this month
It appears that the Sunderland boss is optimistic that more business can be done before the window slams shut.
The Sunderland Echo’s Phil Smith has reported the 39-year-old coach is hoping to sign two more players before the end of the month.
It is understood he wants to sign a new forward and a left-back.

Update on Sanderson’s future emerges
It is believed that Sanderson is happy to stay and while the Premier League club do have the option to recall him, the Black Cats boss is not concerned about them doing so.
West Ham linked with Josh Maja
Maja’s departure from the Stadium of Light was well documented in the ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die’ Netflix series but it seems the Bordeaux forward could be set for a return to English football.
talkSPORT’s Alex Crook has indicated that Maja could be a target for West Ham United, who are in the market for a new striker after selling Sebastian Haller to Ajax.
