Sunderland target move for highly-rated defender as Grayson seek further reinforcements

Sunderland could be ready to move for Lincoln City defender Sean Raggett, according to Alan Nixon on Twitter.

The 23-year-old has become one of the most sought after talents in the lower echelons of the football league pyramid, and he could get what would be a huge move for him if Simon Grayson decides to make a concrete bid for the player before the end of the transfer window.

Raggett only moved to Lincoln from non-league Dover at the start of the 2016/17 season, but has gone to make a big impression at Sincil Bank with some excellent performances.

Sunderland manager Grayson is keen to add some new players to his squad but knows full well he cannot go spending big bucks like some of his Championship rivals can with the club trying to tighten the purse strings following their relegation from the top flight last term.

The Black Cats are due to take on Norwich City today following their opening day draw with Derby last weekend. They won 1-0 at Bury in the League Cup earlier in the week to give them a boost as they look for the three points against the Canaries.

Sunderland fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know!
