Charlie Wyke believes that it doesn't matter who scores the goals this term, as long as Sunderland get promoted.

The Black Cats are right in the mix for promotion this term and find themselves in fifth place in League One at present.

It was a frustrating week for Phil Parkinson's side last week as they picked up just one point from a possible six against two of their promotion rivals in Fleetwood Town and Coventry City - something which was something of a setback in their ambitions of promotion.

Wyke has struggled for consistent goals in recent weeks, but according to the striker, there's only one number that matters this term and that's their league position at the end of the season.

As quoted by the Sunderland Echo, Wyke said: “As a striker I want to add more goals.
“I know it's frustrating at times, but the main thing this year is to get out the league and get promoted.
“As long as we're winning, who cares who scores?” He added: "I think I've been playing well.
“I think I've been a big part of the team and we have been playing well and getting results so I don't think you can complain.
“If I was playing, wasn't scoring and we weren't winning then we'd be getting a bit of stick, but I think everyone who's playing at the minute is doing well so long may it continue.”
Do you know where these 15 Sunderland players were signed from? Have a go!   The verdict The result against Coventry City is a blow, but it's far from fatal. Sunderland are still well placed to mount a genuine promotion push with a top six finish looking like a probability. Finishing in the top two will be a tough task for any team, but the Black Cats certainly have the quality and depth to push their competition all of the way. All that we know is that the next few games will be massive, starting with Gillingham on Saturday.
