Sunderland are having a miserable time of things this season, sitting bottom of the Championship table and already parting company with manager Simon Grayson.

Grayson struggled to get anything out of his squad and results showed, and the club now have a big job on their hands to find a suitable replacement and avoid the dreaded drop to League One, which would be a disaster for the club.

The January transfer window will represent a chance for the Black Cats to dip into the market and try and bring some players in to pull them away from the mire and to safety.

One player who we at FLW think the club should go all out to sign in the winter window is Liverpool striker Danny Ings, who will be itching for some first team football after a massive layoff through serious injury.

Ings was a proven goal getter in the Championship with Burnley, and will be desperate to get back on the goal trail and prove his worth once again as he looks to reclaim a place in Jurgen Klopp's squad next season.

He could be the ideal signing for Sunderland. Still young enough to want to improve, hungry for goals, and with a point to prove, he's exactly what the Black Cats will need in the fight for survival.

A loan move for Ings would surely give Sunderland a much needed boost and could well be enough to ensure they steer clear of successive relegations.

Sunderland fans, what do you think to Ings? Good signing? Let us know!
