Sunderland look to be on their way down to the third tier, and despite a 4-1 hammering of Derby County, they were brought back to earth with a bump by Sheffield Wednesday last weekend.

The Black Cats have had a miserable season in the Championship, with Simon Grayson losing his job early in the season and former Wales manager Chris Coleman struggling to turn things around since he took over at the Stadium of Light.

It's all resulted in what looks like being a second successive relegation for the north east club, and it will be a bitter blow to their fans, who have remained loyal to the cause throughout.

However, the summer represents a chance for the club to go into the market to add some fresh faces, while moving out some of the dead wood at the club which has built up over the course of a few seasons.

One player we at FLW think would be a good signing for the club though is Bradford City forward Charlie Wyke, who has steadily built an excellent reputation for himself over the course of the last few seasons, and has 14 goals to his name this season.

If Sunderland are to drop into the third tier, then they need players who know the league and are proven at that level, and Wyke is a player who fits that mould 100%.

Bradford may well not want to sell, but Sunderland will be able oust them in terms of wages, and Wyke could well find it hard to turn down a chance to play for such a huge club.

Sunderland fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
