As Sunderland prepare for life in the Championship, they will be hoping to avoid the mistakes that were made by Aston Villa and Norwich City last season.

With the aid of parachute payments, whoever comes in as Sunderland's next manager will have the resources needed to help the North-East club mount a bid to gain immediate promotion back to the Premier League.

Following the imminent departure of Jermain Defoe and the release of Victor Anichebe, it is obvious that the first area that will need to be addressed by the new manager is the centre-forward position.

This summer transfer window will be a crucial one as Sunderland look to acclimatise to Championship life quickly and also fill the void left by Defoe and Anichebe.

One player who could fill that void is Norwich City striker Cameron Jerome.

Last season, Jerome finished as the Canaries' top goalscorer with sixteen goals and also impressively eight assists.

Despite, Cameron Jerome's notable contributions, it appears that Norwich City will allow the 30-year-old striker to leave this summer, as Daniel Farke and Stuart Webber look to take the club in a different direction.

The recently made available striker will be attracting a lot of interest from the Championship as a consistent proven goalscorer at this level.

Cameron Jerome could prove to be the perfect signing for Sunderland to make.

As well as his vast experience in the Championship, he has the physicality and athleticism needed to lead the line for a marathon 46-game season.

Sunderland fans, would you like to see Cameron Jerome join your side? Do you think he would be a success at the Stadium of Light? Would you be happy to see Jerome leading the line next season? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below!
