Sunderland have made a steady start to life in the Championship, picking up a win and two draws to remain undefeated in their first three league encounters.

In Simon Grayson, they have a manager with plenty of experience at second tier level and he has brought in some players with nous in the Championship too.

With just two weeks left until the transfer window slams shut, Sunderland will be eyeing a couple more additions to really complete their squad.

One position they could look to strengthen is right back.

Billy Jones is currently starting there with Adam Matthews as back-up but Grayson might feel that he could upgrade on both of these options.

Sunderland should revisit a move for former target Carl Jenkinson.

The Arsenal defender was on Sunderland's radar for a loan move back in summer 2015 but he opted to re-join West Ham United instead.

During his time at West Ham, Jenkinson really showed that he could perform at high levels in the Premier League but he has not been given a chance by Arsenal since his return from injury.

The once-capped England international, who previously represented Finland in youth football, has been frozen out by the Gunners and is playing for their youth team.

The 25-year-old is now at that stage in his career where he needs to leave to boost his future career prospects and regular football for a high-aspiring Championship side would serve him well.

Sunderland should aim to sign the attack-minded right back on loan or permanently if they can get him for cheap.
