Sunderland will be getting ready for life back in the Championship after finally succumbing to Premier League relegation last season under David Moyes.

The Mackems will no doubt be one of the pre-season favourites for the title in the second tier, but there are plenty of things which need to fall into place really before they can even be considered contenders for the Championship crown.

One thing the club needs to do is sort out its playing staff, ridding the squad of any dead wood and massive earners, and making some room for some quality Championship signings.

One player who we think could do a job at Sunderland and be ready for a new challenge is Derby County forward Tom Ince. Currently valued at £5.95m by website Transfermarkt, the former Hull City star could well be the sort of signing Sunderland need to boost their hopes.

His speed and trickery down both wings make Ince a handful for most defences at this level, and with plenty of changes predicted at Derby over the summer, Ince could opt to jump ship and find himself a new home.

Sunderland will have no problem stumping up a fee for the impressive forward, nor will paying his wages be a problem. It could work out to be a real masterstroke if pulled off, with the Mackems adding a player of real quality, while genuinely denting the hopes of one of the promotion rivals.

Sunderland fans, what do you think? Would you take Ince? Let us know in the comments!
