Sunderland have bared their teeth on Twitter today following a report from Plymouth Argyle on the Black Cats' 2-0 win on Saturday.

Two second-half goals from Aiden McGeady were enough to give Jack Ross's side all three points and leap-frog Peterborough United who lost away to Wycombe Wanderers, but Plymouth clearly felt they deserved more from the game.

The result ended Argyle's positive run of form and scuppered their chances of climbing out of the relegation zone.

Before the weekend the club had won their last two matches convincing, beating Gillingham 3-1 and Scunthorpe 4-1.

But that was scuppered on Saturday and the club clearly felt they deserved more.

After the match, the club's official account made a point of emphasising the stats that showed that Argyle may have been the better side.

Along with the report was a screenshot showing Derek Adams' side took nine more shots than their visitors as well as winning more corners.

The Black Cats' showed their claws though, quoting the tweet, adding: "All these flavours, and you choose to be salty... ????????‍♂️."

With over 400 retweets already it is safe to say that Sunderland have won this particular battle.

The verdict

This sort of club interaction gets criticised a lot, but I must say that I am a fan.

Anything that humanises a football club that little bit more is a great idea in my book and is just another example of how well the new regime at the Stadium of Light has done in improving the relationship with their fans.
