Chris Coleman's Sunderland are in talks over a loan deal for Ghanaian international forward Edwin Gyasi, as per the Daily Mail transfer live blog (10:09).

The 26-year-old currently plies his trade in Norway with Aalesunds, where he has scored 12 league goals in 53 league appearances and Coleman has his eye on a move as he looks to add firepower to his squad as they gear up for the relegation dogfight.

Premier League strugglers Swansea City and West Brom have also reportedly expressed an interest in Gyasi's services to boost their own survival hopes.

Sunderland's local rivals Middlesbrough, whom they face in the FA Cup third round at the Riverside Stadium on Sunday are also said to hold an interest in a deal for Gyasi under new manager Tony Pulis.

There is also interest from Spanish, French and Italian clubs in the striker.

The Verdict:

Chris Coleman said yesterday that they are only in the market for loan deals and when you're shopping in that market, an international striker is as good a deal as you can ask for.

The amount of interest in the player means that it might be tough to strike a potential deal but Coleman will be hoping Gyasi wants to come in and aid his survival bid.
