Sunderland have agreed terms for St Mirren manager Jack Ross to become their new head coach.

According to Sky Sports, the Black Cats have finalised terms for the Buddies boss to replace Chris Coleman at the Stadium of Light.

Sunderland’s new owner Stewart Donald looks to have agreed a deal with the 41-year-old manager.

Jack Ross led St Mirren to the Scottish Championship title last season, winning the SFA Manager of the Year award, ahead of Celtic’s Brendan Rodgers.

Black Cats supporters can look forward to an attacking style of play, as Ross orchestrated his side to 63 goals in their 36 league matches last season, finishing 12 points clear of second place Livingston.

Jack Ross was also linked with a number of other jobs in the English Football League, including the recently vacated Ipswich Town managerial positon, left by Mick McCarthy.

The Verdict

Jack Ross has demonstrated his talent and ability in the Scottish leagues, but we will have to wait and see what he can produce below the border.

Sunderland fans will be hoping that with the introduction of a new manager, comes the introduction of new players.

There has been a severe overhaul on and off the pitch at the Stadium of Light in recent weeks, but perhaps this can be a new start and a new era for the Black Cats.
