Following the agony of their dramatic League One play-off final defeat to Charlton Athletic, you wouldn't blame Sunderland's side if they all wanted to get away from football for some time.

The summer break does at least allow them to do that, and fans of the club will be hoping that they can get that disappointment out of their system as they look to push for promotion to the Championship again next season.

Social media can often be a useful tool for players and fans to connect with one another, it can also lead to something of a backlash amongst club supporters if they feel members of their side are not posting the right sort of content.

Given the disappointment of missing out on that Wembley defeat it is perhaps unsurprising therefore, that with the exception of the odd happy birthday post from defender Glenn Loovens and midfielder Chris Maguire to family members in the days leading up to that Wembley defeat, there appears for the most part very little activity amongst the Sunderland squad so far.

There has however been one exception to that.

Despite recently being linked with several clubs - including Championship trio Blackburn, Brentford and Queens Park Rangers - by The Northern Echo, it seems that midfielder Dylan McGeouch has had some much more pressing matters on his mind, after the 26-year-old took to Instagram on Tuesday afternoon to announce his engagement while on holiday on Zaya Nurai Island in Abu Dhabi.
