Tom Beadling is set to join Scottish club Dunfermline permanently with a two-year deal.

The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at the club, so he has secured his future with his current contract at Sunderland set to run out.

This was his second loan spell since joining Sunderland, and it was a lot more successful than his time at Bury.

Beadling made 11 appearances for the Pars and managed to bag himself a goal even though he is a centre-back. The club will be hoping that he can help them back into the Premier League for the first time since 2007. They finished last season in fourth place and were unable to beat Dundee United in the play-off quarter-finals.

Here's the tweet from the official Dunfermline Athletic account announcing the news:

The Verdict

He is unlikely to be missed by the Black Cats because he didn't feature for the senior side and the club didn't seem interested in extending his contract, even though they are likely to cut down the squad and bring in new personnel as well as incorporating the academy graduates into the first-team.

Beadling has spent the majority of his footballing career with the Black Cats because he joined as an eight-year-old back in 2004, so this is a big move for him. However, he had little choice and the loan spell came at the right time for him.
