If you think about the top stars in League One this season, Jack Marriott has to be up there in many people's minds straight away.

Playing for Peterborough after a good spell at Luton Town, the young striker has hit the ground running for the Posh and looks to have the rest of the division at his mercy.

Could he continue his upward trajectory with a Championship club before too long, though?

Here at Football League World we think so and here's who our writers reckon should go after the promising forward...

Alfie Burns

Marriott is scoring goals for fun in League One, having already found the back of the net on nine occasions for Peterborough this season.

The 23-year-old is sure to be on the radar of a number of Championship clubs, and a move to somewhere like Norwich would be perfect.

Norwich are reliant on the goals of Nelson Oliveira, and will surely be looking to add more to that area in January.

Marriott could be the answer.

Chris Gallagher

The 23-year old striker has easily handled the step up from League Two to League One and already a move to the Championship could be considered. Goalscorers are hard to come by and Marriott has shown he can score. The likes of Barnsley, Millwall and QPR will be looking to find a gem from that level and if the Peterborough forward maintains this form until January he could be the one.
George Dagless
Sunderland need to have a go in January.
The Black Cats have not had a great start to the season but at least things are improving in the sense that they are getting some draws. That still isn't good enough for where the men from the north-east want to be, though, and they should be looking at fresh ideas to sort things out. Marriott, then, with his energy and evident lethal finishing, is the kind of player Simon Grayson should be going after.
