Sunderland midfielder Ethan Robson is in talks with Dundee as he looks to secure a temporary move away from the Stadium of Light.

That’s the latest according to Roker Report, who confirm that Robson looks set for a move north to link up with Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.

So far this season, Robson, 22, has failed to feature for Sunderland in League One, with Jack Ross placing faith in others as his side go in search of an immediate return to the Championship.

Robson’s three appearances have come in the Football League Trophy, with the midfielder scoring against Carlisle.

He’s suffered from an ankle injury recently and has just returned, but Grant Leadbitter’s addition has pushed him down the pecking order, with the former Sunderland midfielder coming back to the club from Middlesbrough, almost a decade after initially leaving.

Whilst Robson could be one player heading out of the Stadium of Light, Sunderland are understood to be closing in on a deal with bring a striker in.

Ross lost Josh Maja to Bordeaux earlier in the month, with Keith Downie from Sky Sports now reporting that the club are making serious progress in their attempts to replace the youngster.

The Verdict

Robson is a talented midfielder, but his development is going to stunt if he isn’t playing regularly.

It doesn’t seem likely that opportunities will come his way, so a move elsewhere is good.

If Dundee can give him the opportunities he needs, this could be a good move for all parties.
