Sunderland centre-back Alim Ozturk believes that the fans can play a part when they travel to take on struggling Bolton Wanderers this weekend.

Around 4,000 supporters are expected to make the journey from Wearside and they will be expecting three points against a Trotters side that have failed to win all season.

However, following a deadline day signing spree, Bolton are no longer the whipping boys they were earlier in the campaign and Ozturk told Sunderland's official site that they will be focused on the game and outlined the way the fans can help.

"We will treat this like a normal game. We will prepare like normal to try and get the victory. Our fans are amazing and to have 4,000 at Bolton is absolutely fantastic.

"If they are behind us, then everything will be okay. They really can be the difference for the team."

The former Hearts man joined the League One side prior to last season, although he struggled to establish himself as a regular in the team.

But, he has featured in seven of the eight league games this season and will expect to be in Jack Ross' XI on Saturday.

The verdict

The Black Cats will be backed by a great following this weekend and it's down to the players to deliver.

There is a lot of pressure when you pull on a Sunderland shirt and fans expect wins regularly in League One, so the draw to Rotherham in the week will frustrate.

This does feel like a great chance to bounce back though and it's down to Ozturk and the team to go out and get the points against Keith Hill's side with a strong display.
