League One Sunderland are being linked with a move for St Mirren midfielder Lewis Morgan this summer, according to a report in the Chronicle.

The impressive winger banged in 18 goals last season for the Buddies, and is well known to new Sunderland manager Jack Ross, who is keen to bring the 21-year-old to England and help fire his new team back into the Championship.

Sunderland suffered a miserable season last time out, but new manager Ross is expected to oversee a huge summer clearout, while also adding plenty of new faces to a squad which is in need of invesment and refreshment.

Morgan, who is officially a Celtic player after the Bhoys bought him in January, may well be open to another loan move next season if he struggles to break into Brendan Rodgers' side, and will no doubt see a reunion with former manager Ross as the ideal sort of move.

Ross, who has only just taken the reins at Sunderland, is a big fan of Morgan, and admitted in the same report that he has something of a bond with Celtic manager Rodgers, something he is hopeful will help him land the young winger this summer.
