Sunderland interested in securing loan deal for Premier League striker

Sunderland are believed to have identified Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha as the man to solve their problems in front of goal.

The Chronicle Live reports that the City youngster is interesting the Black Cats and could join the club on a temporary basis before the window closes.

Nmecha is highly-regarded by the Premier League leaders and signed a new three-and-a-half year deal with Pep Guardiola’s side not long after Everton were linked with a permanent move for the 19-year old.

Boasting ridiculous pace, Nmecha was the top scorer in the FA Youth Cup last season and scored the winner as England’s U19 side became European Champions.

He has also featured for the first-team, coming on as a late substitute as City beat Leicester on penalties in the Carabao Cup this season, with the teenager one of those to score from the spot.

Chris Coleman is desperate for reinforcements up top having lost James Vaughan and more importantly top scorer Lewis Grabban in this window.

The Black Cats have failed to score in four of their last five games and have two crucial games against Hull and Birmingham before the end of the month.

The Verdict

The budget restraints at Sunderland mean young loan signings from Premier League sides are highly likely and Nmecha is one of the best available.

He’s extremely quick and has an eye for goal, however it’s still asking a lot for the player to join Coleman’s side in this situation and become a key figure immediately.

Sunderland need to be very active in the next few weeks and Nmecha needs to be one of several new signings if he does make the move.
