Sunderland wonder-kid Joel Asoro is considering leaving Sunderland this summer, according to The Sunderland Echo.

Joel Asoro is considered to be one of the brightest prospects in the Sunderland academy but he has admitted that he may be forced to leave the club if he is not given first team assurances for next year.

Despite being identified as a talented young prospect, the 18-year-old has been limited to just four outings for the senior Sunderland side.

Only one of those came in the Premier League with a nine minute substitute cameo against Middlesbrough.

Asoro was also handed two starts in the EFL Cup and came off the bench in the FA Cup loss to Burnley.

The 18-year-old has been a star performer in Sunderland's under-23 side and many fans called upon David Moyes to hand the talented teenager an opportunity in the first team set up after the Black Cats' relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

However, Asoro had to settle for youth level football and this is becoming an increasing frustration for the Swedish striker, who can also play as a winger.

The Sweden under-21 international, who is currently away preparing for the under-21 European Championships, has admitted that he may be forced to leave the club if he is not handed any first team game time.

Asoro added that he needs senior football to aid his development.
