Sunderland continue to push hard for an immediate return to the Championship following their embarrassing relegation last season.

They slipped out of the top-two last weekend after a thrilling 5-4 loss to Coventry City at the Stadium of Light but the overall improvement in the mood at the club is obvious.

A large amount of credit for that must go to manager Jack Ross whose shrewd recruitment has resulted in the formation of a team who are proud to play for the club once again after years of dreadful dealings.

He only arrived in the North East in the summer but there is a chance he could be on his way once again, with the Sun reporting (14/04, page 61) that West Brom are interested in bringing him in as Darren Moore's replacement.

Jimmy Shan has been continuing as the club's interim manager but the Baggies remain keen on bringing in a new permanent boss.

But, after all he has done in his short space of time, how should Sunderland fans be feeling about these rumours?

I don't think they have anything to worry about.

For one thing, I very much doubt Ross in West Brom's first choice of new boss and would much rather bring in somebody with Championship experience.

But also that I would be extremely surprised if Ross were to leave Sunderland at all, regardless of what club came in for him.

He seems to have completely bought into Stewart Donald's vision and looks set to remain in the dug out for a long time to come.
