Sunderland are preparing for life in League One following back-to-back relegations in the last two years.

Stewart Donald’s takeover is now complete, with planning for life in the third tier now underway at the Stadium of Light.

One of Donald’s first tasks is going to be appointing a new manager, but then, there is a huge rebuilding job to do with the playing squad, who have disappointed massively in the last 12 months.

Sunderland will be keen to add a goalscorer to their squad, with Jack Marriott one forward the Black Cats could cast their eye over.

Marriott was perhaps League One’s standout forward last season, grabbing 27 league goals and 33 across all competitions for Peterborough United.

The 23-year-old is likely to attract a lot of interest over the course of the summer, and here at FLW, we wanted to know if Sunderland’s supporters believe Donald should break the bank to get Marriott to the Stadium of Light.

Surprisingly, 59% of voters in our Twitter poll were against Sunderland making a big-money move for Marriott, despite his excellent season for Peterborough. Just 41% of voters believe the Black Cats should be breaking the bank to sign the 23-year-old.
