Sunderland have reportedly bid £600,000 for Bradford City striker Charlie Wyke, according to the Chronicle Live.

The Bantams striker grabbed 15 goals last season as the Bantams finished just inside the top half of League One, but he's been linked with a move away this summer. Sunderland have already had one bid rejected, but have now gone back with an improved offer.

Bolton Wanderers are also looking at the former Carlisle man and they can offer him second- tier football after avoiding the drop last season.

25-year old Wyke is from the north east, having been born in Middlesbrough, the club with which he started his career but failed to make a first team appearance for.

After loan spells with Kettering, Hartlepool and Wimbledon, he secured a permanent switch to Brunton Park in 2015. He scored 32 times in 72 outings for the Cumbrians, earning himself a move to Valley Parade.

Sunderland have also been linked with a bid for Cheltenham Town striker Mo Eisa as they step up their summer recruitment.

The Verdict

Wyke and Eisa would be a superb partnership, with the physicality of Wyke paired with the pace of Eisa.

Combined they're going to set Jack Ross back £1.6m as a bare minimum, but what price can he put on promotion at the first attempt?
