Sunderland eyeing a transfer raid on Norwich to sign international forward

Sunderland have recently been relegated from the Premier League and are set to compete in next season’s Championship.

Ahead of the upcoming campaign, Sunderland are eyeing a summer raid on their Championship rivals Norwich City as they attempt to sign Steven Naismith, according to Press Association Sport via The Eastern Daily Press.

Norwich have already released seven senior players and they have made the likes of Jonny Howson, Yanic Wilschut, Michael McGovern, Matt Jarvis and Steven Naismith available for transfer as they eye a summer clear-out.

Naismith, who joined Norwich in January 2016, has struggled to make much of an impact this season despite playing in the Championship.

The Scotland international was a summer target for Sunderland are the Black Cats are ready to reignite their interest, according to this report.

Sunderland face competition from Rangers to land the versatile 30-year-old, who can operate as a striker, central attacking midfielder or as a winger.
