Struggling Sunderland appear to finally be on the way to landing a goalkeeper with the signing of Lee Camp, according to respected journalist Alan Nixon.
The 33-year-old, who moved to Cardiff in 2017 following a hugely successful spell with Rotherham United, has failed to nail down a place in the starting line up under Neil Warnock, and now Sunderland manager Chris Coleman is keen to sign the experienced stopper.
The Black Cats have experienced all sorts of problems in the goalkeeping department this term, with Jason Steele – who is set to join Derby – one of the main culprits for some of the poor results which have come the Mackems’ way this season.
However, Coleman will be hoping the addition of the experienced Camp can finally plug a big hole which has been a contentious issue ever since Coleman took over the club following the sacking of Simon Grayson earlier in the campaign.
Camp, who has enjoyed successful spells with Derby County and Nottingham Forest in the past, will be hoping to have one final excellent run as a number one as he approaches the final stages of his career.
