Sunderland defender Lamine Kone could be set for a return to the Premier League with West Ham, according to the Mirror.

The big Ivorian defender was one of few players to come out of last season with any credit following a miserable campaign which saw Sunderland relegated back to the Championship. His form has now attracted the interest of the Hammers, but they will need to stump up a reported £15m for his services.

The news will come as yet another blow for the Mackems who lost Jordan Pickford earlier in the week in a big transfer deal to Everton, and now appear set to lose another one of their star names.

The report claims West Brom are also interested in making a move for Kone, who almost moved to Everton last season before signing a new deal at the Stadium of Light.

Kone moved to England from French side Lorient towards the back end of the 2015/16 campaign, and became a regular in the Sunderland defence with his aerial dominance and tough tackling displays endearing him to fans.

Sunderland fans, what do you think to this? Sad to lose Kone? Let us know in the comments!
