Sunderland boss Jack Ross faces an almighty fight to keep hold of his star man in January when the transfer window reopens.

Josh Maja has been their man goal threat with ten goals already this season, and his impressive start has seen a number of big clubs come calling.

According to the Mirror, the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham are reportedly chasing Maja with his future currently unclear with the Black Cats.

But with many Sunderland fans sweating over the future of their star man, Jack Ross is surely likely to be dipping into the transfer market in January for a potential replacement to Maja.

Could Chelsea have the answer to the perfect replacement for Maja, with a youngster eager to prove himself in senior football.

Billy Gilmour signed for the Premier League side at the age of 15 from Rangers and it's fair to say he hasn't looked back since.

The 17-year-old has been ever-present in the Chelsea under 23's side, and has made 30 appearances in total last season, scoring on eight occasions with nine assists as well.

The youngster's impressive start to life with the Blues hasn't stopped there, as he has already netted eight goals in just 15 appearances this season for the Chelsea youth sides.

He is also capped at youth level for Scotland, and he is sure to be one to watch for the future for his country.

Gilmour recently made his debut for the Scotland under 21's side, which is a huge step to take in his career, especially given the fact that he is still only 17.

He has scored four goals in his last three games for the under 19's team but he will be looking to further his development with the under 21's side going forward.

Gilmour can play in the central midfield role or further forward in an attacking midfield role, and his creativity and exciting potential would make him an excellent addition for Jack Ross.
