League One club Sunderland have confirmed that teenage forward Jack Diamond will join National League North outfit Spennymoor Town, on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old has made three first-team appearances for the Black Cats this season, all of them coming in the Checkatrade Trophy and has featured regularly for their under-23 side.

Spennymoor are currently third in the National League North and will be hoping that the arrival of Diamond will bolster their chances of promotion to the fifth tier.

The youngster is a versatile attacking player who can player anywhere across the front or on either flank and he could prove a very good signing for the non-league side.

Sunderland are currently third in the League One table, just two points outside the automatic promotion places, with a game in hand on second-placed Barnsley.

The Verdict:

This is a good move by Sunderland that will hopefully benefit both the club and the player.

The 19-year-old has produced a number of impressive displays for the Sunderland under-23 side and clearly has a lot of potential.

It will be good for the youngster to experience more first-team football while on loan at Spennymoor and in the hope that he can impress for Jack Ross' first-team in the future.
