Sunderland are set to sign striker Charlie Wyke from Bradford, with the player set to undergo a medical today before signing a deal with Jack Ross' side.

The Black Cats have enjoyed a very busy summer with the former St. Mirren boss making several changes to a squad that had suffered successive relegations.

However, they had still been keen on bringing in more firepower, with the club not boastin many options in the final third.

And, according to Roker Report, they are to follow up the signing of Jerome Sinclair with the arrival of Wyke, who has proven himself at League One level over the years.

The target man has netted 21 goals in 59 games since moving to the Bantams from Carlisle and will be the focal point for this new-look Sunderland team.

Yet, even with Wyke's arrival thought to be imminent, he won't be lining up for the Wearside outfit for Saturday's opener against Charlton as he is currently injured.

The issue won't impact his move but could delay his debut until the end of the month.

The Verdict

This is a great bit of business for Sunderland as there had been Championship interest in the player.

He is exactly what they need, a proven player at this level who will score goals. As well as that, he will bring a lot to the team with his ability to play with his back to goal.

Now, supporters will want the deal confirmed as soon as possible as he will be a key player this season if it all goes through.
