Sunderland have had a bid accepted for an unnamed striker with transfer deadline day edging ever-closer.

Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie broke the news on Twitter on Wednesday evening, and it's sure to keep Sunderland supporters guessing as to who it could be.

Jack Ross' side have been linked to a number of strikers this month, and Will Grigg seems to have been on the radar the longest.

The Northern Irish forward has fallen out of favour at Wigan this season, and with the recent arrival of Leon Clarke, it will only push Grigg further down the pecking order.

But his name was also ruled out by Paul Kendrick, who is Wigan's reporter for the Wigan Observer, this evening.

One man it certainly isn't going to be is Barnsley's Kieffer Moore, as Downie also ruled out the forward ditching Oakwell for the Stadium of Light.

It's sure to be an exciting transfer deadline day for Sunderland, with many fans hoping that whoever the new striker is, that he can be the man to score goals to take the Black Cats back into the Championship.

The Verdict

The question is, who's is it going to be?

Sunderland have already been linked to a number of strikers this month and it could literally be any of the targets that have been previously mentioned.

If they get this signing right, then he could be the deciding factor in the Black Cats potentially gaining promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
