Charlie Wyke has signed a three-year deal and passed his medical as Sunderland prepare to unveil the striker as their latest arrival this summer.

The Bradford striker, who has scored 21 goals in 59 games for Bradford City in the past 18 months, has been targeted by Jack Ross all summer.

And, Sky Sports' Keith Downie revealed that he has signed a three-year contract after passing his medical, with the club set to announce him in the coming hours.

However, Wyke will not be able to play in their League One opener against Charlton this weekend, as he is currently suffering with an injury he recently picked up.

Downie added that he is set for up to three weeks on the sidelines, which means he may have to wait until the AFC Wimbledon game on August 25th for his debut in red and white.

The 25-year-old is set to cost the Wearside outfit an initial £600,000 and that could rise to £1m if bonuses are met in his time at the Stadium of Light.

The Verdict

Sunderland fans will be delighted to hear that this move is all done, and will now look forward to the club confirming this, which is surely imminent.

The side is lacking quality up top and moved to sign Jerome Sinclair but they still needed more options.

Wyke is a proven option, someone who is a good team player and will also chip in with goals, so it seems a smart signing.
