Premier League side Sunderland are tracking Exeter City midfielder Matt Grimes, who has been labelled as one of the hottest prospects in the Football League, according to the Daily Mail.
The 18-year old midfielder has been a teenage sensation at the club and he made 36 league appearances in his first full season in League Two with Exeter. It is believed Premier League teams have been sending scouts to watch him play all season.
The youngster has impressed many in his breakthrough season and was named Exeter’s player of the year at the club’s end of season awards ceremony last week.
Sunderland are on the search to find young talent to bulk their squad up having narrowly avoided relegation. Also they will be looking for players like Grimes to replace departing members of the squad.
Sunderland are among a host of clubs from the Premier League and the Sky Bet Championship who are showing signs of interest in the youngster. However, it seems the ‘Black Cats’ are going to pounce first in the chase for his signature.
