Sunderland and Wolves summer target Jordan Hugill is reportedly available for transfer in January, according to the print edition of the Sun (Sunday 15th October 2017).

The impressive forward was one of the star performers of the Championship campaign last season as the Preston man fired in the goals to send his team to a mid-table finish and a comfortable season in general for the Lancashire club.

The Lilywhites held firm in the summer when they turned down numerous approaches for his services, but it now appears they could be ready to cash in on their biggest asset, with the player reportedly being made available for around £12m should anyone be willing to pay it.

The news is bound to spark the interest of Wolves, who seemingly have money to burn and will be looking for more additions as they try to further cement their good start to the season. For Sunderland, it may be that they have to back off, with Simon Grayson facing an uphill battle to keep the club in the league based on their start.

Preston though don't need to sell, and it's hard to imagine them allowing Hugill to leave for anything less than what the asking price is.

The Verdict

A quieter campaign so far for Hugill, but he is still a top player at this level.

If Wolves do come in with the money, he will no doubt fancy the switch with the Molineux club looking like nailed on contenders to win promotion to the Premier League.
