According to reports coming out of Netherlands, Jeremain Lens is set to leave Sunderland this summer.

Dutch media outlet Voetbal International is reporting that Jeremain Lens has chosen to move to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas.

After spending last season on loan at Besiktas' rivals, Fenerbahce, it seems that Lens has decided to switch clubs in Turkey.

Lens joined Sunderland in summer 2015 with plenty of hype surrounding his arrival.

However, after finding his playing time hard to come by, the Netherlands international decided to move to Turkey instead, where he spent a season on loan at Fenerbahce.

In that spell, Lens weighed in with an impressive tally of four goals and eleven assists and Fenerbahce were keen to keep him.

However, the Dutch winger has instead opted to join Besiktas, according to this report, where he will play Champions League football next season.

Lens signed for the Black Cats two years ago, penning a four year deal at the Stadium of Light.

Considering he has two years left on his current deal, Besiktas will probably have to stump up a reasonable transfer fee for the skillful wide man.

The 29-year-old looks set to leave Sunderland after scoring four goals in 25 games during his time in England.

The Verdict

Jeremain Lens' departure seems like an inevitability, which is a shame because he is a good player who never really got a fair chance at Sunderland.

However, if he wants to leave, there is no point keeping him.

I'm not sure a loan deal helps anyone really as Sunderland need the money to reinvest - it will be interesting to see what sort of fee they can receive if Lens does complete his permanent move to Besiktas.
