Sunderland and Middlesbrough to battle with Premier League side for international winger

Championship duo Middlesbrough and Sunderland could be set to fight West Brom for the signature of Ghanaian winger Edwin Gyasi, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.

The 26-year-old currently plays for Norwegian outfit Aalesund, and has six goals to his name this season in what has been an impressive campaign.

It is believed that both the Championship duo and the Baggies are keen on signing the winger as he could be available for around £600k, a drop in the ocean in terms of a transfer fee with the resources available at all three clubs.

Gyasi has two caps for his country and has impressed over the last 12 months with his form, leading to a host of clubs in England and Europe sending scouts to Scandanavia to check out his performances at club level.

The Baggies will no doubt be in pole position given their Premier League status, but Gyasi could well opt for a move to the Championship, with first team football far more likely for him at either the Black Cats or the Boro.

There have been 534 goals scored in the 199 Premier League matches played so far this season. That, dear friends, is an average of 2.68 per game.
