Sky Bet Championship newcomers Sunderland have joined Derby County in the race to sign Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan, according to reports from The Mirror’s transfer news live blog (Thursday, 15:18pm).
The homegrown star has enjoyed a good season in the Championship and has earned a strong reputation, and it does not come as a surprise that a number of clubs are eyeing the defender up.
It has been reported though, that the Black Cats and the Rams will need to make an offer of £2.5million to prize the 23-year old away from Ashton Gate.
Bryan has made a total of 156 appearances for the Bristol side, and has vast Championship experience under his belt, and with Derby and Sunderland eyeing up a top-six finish next year, he would be the perfect acquisition for either club.
His versatility also makes him such a useful player to have in a squad, as Bryan is just as adept playing as a full-back as he is further up the pitch on the wing.
So… What do you think Sunderland and Derby fans? Would he be a good signing? City fans…would you be disappointed to see Bryan depart? Leave all of your thoughts in the comments below!
