Motherwell attacker James Scott is attracting interest from a number of Premier League and Football League clubs, a report from TeamTalk has claimed.

Championship pair Bristol City and Barnsley, as well as League One promotion hopefuls Sunderland, are among those reportedly interested in the 19-year-old's signature.

It could, however, be difficult for those clubs to win the race to sign Scott, as top-flight quartet Everton, Bournemouth, Southampton and Sheffield United are all also thought to be monitoring the progress of teenager.

Scott can play either as a forward or on the wing, and made his senior debut for Motherwell in April 2018.

Since then, Scott has gone on to make a total of 24 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish Premier League side, scoring four goals in the process, before making his debut for Scotland's Under 21 side in their recent clash with San Marino.

It was announced in February that Scott had signed a new contract with Motherwell that secures his future at Fir Park until the summer of 2022.

The Verdict

It looks like this could be a big decision for Scott to make.

On the one hand, the teenager may well be tempted by the chance to move to arguably the biggest league in the world in the form of the Premier League, although he may be better suited heading elsewhere for now.

A move to the Championship or even League One would potentially give the attacker a chance of more regular game time, and that could arguably be better for his career in the long term.

At just 19-years-old there is still plenty of time for Scott to force his way to the Premier League, and proving he can perform elsewhere for the next few years could even allow him to head straight into a side's first-team when he arrives in the top flight, rather than being forced to wait his turn for a period of time.
