A trio of Championship clubs are circling around Huddersfield Town midfielder Joe Lolley, according to a recent report.

The Daily Mail is claiming that Sheffield United and Barnsley both hold an interest in Joe Lolley, who might be available for transfer this summer at the right price.

They face competition for Sunderland, who are also monitoring Lolley's situation.

Simon Grayson is keen to bring Max Gradel to The Stadium of Light but will turn his attention to Joe Lolley if that move fails to materialise.

Sheffield United and Barnsley are looking to raid their Yorkshire neighbours Huddersfield Town to bring in the 24-year-old.

However, David Wagner is a big fan of the versatile attacking midfielder and is likely to offer him a new contract to fend off any interest.

Joe Lolley can operate in a number of positions in the attacking midfield regions.

This includes playing at number 10 and as a winger.

However, with the summer additions of Tom Ince and Steven Mounie, Lolley might find game time hard to come by in the Premier League.

David Wagner wants depth in his Premier League squad and the former Kidderminster Harriers man provides a good back-up option for the newly promoted side.

The Verdict

Joe Lolley would be an excellent addition for any of these three Championship clubs if they could land him on the cheap or on loan.

A loan is looking more likely considering the fact that he has two years left to run on his Huddersfield deal.

The 24-year-old is still young and is still learning as he had to come through the non-league ranks to earn his place at the top level.

After spending much of last season out injured, perhaps this is the year that we really see the best of Joe Lolley - whether that is in the Championship or in the Premier League.
