Sunderland seem resigned to losing Paddy McNair this summer but it's not all bad news at the club.

According to The Mirror's Live Transfer Blog [Saturday 9th June, 20:46], Sunderland will look to use the money generated from McNair's sale to fund moves for Lewis Morgan and Kyle Magennis.

The Black Cats are ready to cash in on McNair after the Northern Ireland international proved his worth in a struggling side towards the end of the season.

The former Manchester United youngster, 23, is a target for Wolves and Brighton and Sunderland will accept bids in the region of £7m.

That money will go towards two reunions for Sunderland manager Jack Ross.

Ross was named the PFA Scotland Manager of the Year after leading St Mirren to the Scottish Championship title and he wants to take two of his stars from the promotion-winning campaign to Wearside.

Magennis is a highly-rated midfielder who is on Ross' radar.

The 19-year-old is already a first-team regular at St Mirren and Sunderland are ready to match his asking price to take him to England.

The Scotland under-21 international already has more than 50 senior games under his belt.

Morgan is another target, who Ross hopes to capture on loan from Celtic after the 21-year-old won the Scottish Championship Player of the Year.

The Verdict

Morgan would be an excellent addition for Sunderland because he provides goals, assists and flair from the wing.

The twice capped Scotland international is a dangerous player but he is perhaps not quite ready for Celtic yet and a year at Sunderland on loan would do him well.

Magennis is also an interesting prospect; the talented teenager could be McNair's long-term replacement in central midfield.
