This weekend’s clash with Preston North End looks set to be a big test of West Brom’s character ahead of the season-ending play-offs.
Two losses on the bounce have cut them well adrift of the top-two and Tuesday night’s loss to Bristol City showed that they will need to be on top of their game if they are to return to the Premier League.
The Robins found themselves 3-0 to the good within just 20 minutes on Tuesday thanks to goals from Josh Brownhill, Andreas Weimann and Jack Hunt.
Two goals after the break from Dwight Gayle and Jay Rodriguez offered a glimmer of hope, but it was not to be and the defeat has left them nine points behind the top two.
The pressure is certainly beginning to mount on Jimmy Shan in the dugout and he will be desperate to return to winning ways this weekend.
But he will surely need to make some changes.
So, here are TWO tweaks he should make to his starting XI…
What an enormous let down he has turned out to be.
In the summer, there was a bit of a scrap for his signature between Championship clubs but it is hard to see why and his display on Tuesday should make Shan’s mind up.
The suspended Hegazi has got to return in his place.
It could be a risk but it is one that Shan needs to take.
He may have only just returned from injury, but Phillips remains one of the league’s best wingers and should start whenever he can.
It is harsh on Kyle Edwards who has done well in his absence but these are the tricky decisions that Shan must make.
