After narrowly missing out on the play-offs on the final day, Reading have continued their rebuild by announcing the departure of three academy graduates.
Nick Arnold, Lawson D’Ath and Gozie Ugwu were all told that their futures lied away from the Madejski Stadium on Monday after their contracts expired, adding another 3 names to the growing list of departures.
Both Arnold and D’Ath were out on loan last season at League 2 clubs, with Arnold gaining experience at Wycombe whilst D’Ath helped Dagenham and Redbridge to a solid 9th place finished.
Ugwu was released despite playing a key part in the U21’s Premier League cup success after returning from a short term loan at League 1 Shrewsbury.
The trio join Jobi McAnuff, Mikele Leigertwood, Kaspars Gorkks, Stuart Taylor, Matt Partridge and Shepherd Murombedzi in looking for another club with Wayne Bridge announcing his retirement from football after just at year with the Royals.
However, there was some good news with youngsters Aaron Tshibola, Sean Long, Shane Griffin, Dan Lincoln and Stuart Moore all signing new contracts.
The club are still in negotiation with Jake Taylor and Michael Hector over new deals.
