Bristol City midfielder Korey Smith has shared a positive update on Instagram after making his injury return during an Under-23 clash with Cardiff City on Monday afternoon.

Smith has played just 146 minutes of action since first suffering ligament damage while playing for the first team back in August 2018, but it appears he is now nearing his long-awaited return following this latest development.

The 27-year-old played for 71 minutes before being substituted during the 2-2 draw with the Bluebirds, as he made his first appearance since suffering a season-ending injury against Reading back in April.

The midfielder's return is set to give Lee Johnson's side a big boost as the sixth-placed side aim to further their promotion push after the international break, and Smith has now
