Coventry extended their unbeaten Championship run to seven matches following a crucial victory over Wycombe.

Defeat at Adams Park would have left the Sky Blues just four points above the relegation-zone, but a captain’s performance from Liam Kelly saw Mark Robin’s side move eight clear of danger.

Firstly, Kelly pounced on a loose ball before producing a piledriver into the bottom left-hand corner, before heading home from close-range in first-half stoppage-time.

However, following that second goal, the Coventry skipper appeared to be limping with a groin injury, and wouldn’t reappear for the second period.

But despite a Joe Jacobson penalty just past the hour-mark, the Sky Blues withstood some late Chairboys pressure to remain unbeaten since the beginning of November, and put themselves in good stead ahead of the festive period.

Having joined from Leyton Orient more than three seasons ago, Kelly has proved a key part of the Coventry side that has worked their way up the Football League ladder, and therefore, has built up a special relationship with those Sky Blues supporters.
