Preston North End are keen to bring Callum Robinson back to Deepdale this summer from West Bromwich Albion, but the Baggies are demanding a fee for the 27-year-old's services which could end up putting a stop to the deal - per Alan Nixon's Patreon.

The Athletic reported a number of weeks ago that Albion were going to listen to offers for the former Aston Villa man, having fallen down the pecking order in favouritism under Steve Bruce.

And as revealed last week by the Express & Star, PNE were believed to be lining up a season-long loan move which would see Robinson re-united with the Lilywhites, having departed three years ago to Sheffield United for around an initial £7 million fee.

Robinson has had three separate stints at North End, the first being on loan in their 2014-15 promotion season from League One before returning once again temporarily in 2016 when they were in the Championship.

During his time at North End, Robinson scored 40 goals in 160 outings, but his Deepdale story may not have ended just yet if Ryan Lowe can strike a deal to bring him back to the club.

The Verdict

Even though he's not in Steve Bruce's immediate plans in 2022-23, the Baggies will be aiming to make as much money as possible on his services.

And as it stands, PNE are probably not in the financial position to make a permanent offer for the Republic of Ireland international - other clubs though may be able to satisfy West Brom's demands though.

A loan is perhaps the best that can be done by North End, and if they can stump up a loan fee as well as pay Robinson's wages then it may do the trick.

However, despite the clamour from PNE supporters of Robinson to return, it could prove a tricky deal to get over the line.
