Stuart Dallas has sent a message to Leeds United fans on social media, after the 3-0 win over Salford City in the Carabao Cup last night.
The 28-year-old has played in both of Leeds’ opening two matches in the Championship this season, but watched on from the bench at Moor Lane last night as his teammates ran out comfortable winners – with goals from Eddie Nketiah, Gaetano Berardi and Mateusz Klich.
Salford were making their debut in the competition and made a bright start, Nketiah put Leeds ahead moments before half-time with a close-range finish.
Berardi doubled their advantage from a corner five minutes after the restart, before Klich put the result beyond any doubt with a curled effort from the edge of the box eight minutes later.
After the game, Dallas took to Instagram to congratulate his Leeds teammates on their victory and on making it through to the next round, describing it as a clinical and professional performance.
Leeds will face Championship rivals Stoke City at Elland Road in the next round of the competition later this month.
Dallas was an important player for Leeds in the Championship last season and has played a key role for the team at right-back so far this campaign in the absence of the injured Luke Ayling.
I’m sure he would have been very impressed by what he saw from his teammates last night, as Leeds totally controlled the game and booked their place in the next round.
Dallas will be hoping to return to action for Leeds against Wigan Athletic in the Championship on Saturday.
