It's been a solid if unspectacular start to life back in the Championship for Middlesbrough with them just outside the play-off places in ninth spot.

The men from the Riverside came into this campaign as one of the favourites for the title but there has been a natural adjustment period and that has kept them from streaking away.

For sure, though, they'll be expected to flex their muscles before too long - particularly when you consider the value of their top two players - according to transfermarkt at least.

Indeed, Boro have a good squad and spent big in the window but it's two players that were already at the club - Ben Gibson and Adama Traore - that share the spoils of being Boro's most valuable asset at £7.2 million.

Gibson, of course, shone in the Premier League last season and so his valuation makes sense whilst Traore looks a real handful when he is on top form.

The winger, though, does have a consistency problem and so it makes you wonder just whether he is worth as much to Boro as their English defender?

Sure, he is a real threat and a provider of goals and assists when he's bang at it but then he'll go quiet and so until he can stamp that out, there's a debate to be had as to whether he is as valuable as Gibson.
