Joe Mason has been less than convincing after being brought to Molineux for an undisclosed fee back in January 2016, as he looks to be heading for the exit.

Mason was one of the most promising strikers in the Championship during his time at Cardiff City after scoring 25 goals for the club.

However, after coming to Molineux with fans expecting great things from the striker, this isn't exactly how it's turned out.

Having only managed to find the back of the net 8 times during his short stint in the Midlands, with loan spells being the norm for the Englishman over his career.

After being sent out on-loan to Burton Albion in the summer months, he managed to produce a rather disappointing 1 goal in 7 appearances for the Brewers.

In what was an unlucky time at the Pirelli Stadium, after suffering from a mixture of injury and illnesses that kept him out of the side.

But after his loan deal expired on the 1st of January, he's returned to his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers where he'll more than likely be sent out on-loan to another Championship club for the remainder of the season.

In a Wolves side that disregarded the striker during the struggles of last season under Paul Lambert, there's no place for Mason in their current side with Nuno Santo now at the helm.

The verdict

Joe Mason has no future at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The ability that the forward has shown in the gold shirt has been far from the standard that was expected, a total waste of money in the eyes of many.

Indeed, the only option for the forward from here on in is a permanent transfer away from the club, or a loan-deal for the remainder of the season.

But, no matter what happens it's unlikely you'll see him feature at Molinuex again.
